Description
Saturday night a mob took George Scott, colored, from the jail in Russellville and hung him to a tree in the suburbs. The mob was composed of about forty persons most of whom were boys, and but few were disguised. The jailor did not recognize any one in the party, but as the wires leading to Adairville were cut, it is supposed that the mob came from that section. Scott’s crime was an attempted assault upon a Mrs. Scroggins, who lives near Adairville.
