MATTERS IN KENTUCKY

MT. STERLING

A black ravisher receives proper attention at the hands of judge lynch.
[special to the courier-journal]
Mt.Sterling, June 15.- The negro, Jim Mitchell, who committed the outrage upon the wife of Robert Thomas yesterday afternoon, was taken from the jail during the night by five men, armed with revolvers who compelled the jailer to surrender the prisoner. He acknowledged his guilt, and was fully identified by his victim. His captors took him to a railroad trestle, about half a mile from town, strung him iup for safe keeping and left him. The lifeless body was cut down by the Coroner this morning and planted. The general impression is that Judge Lynch did a very good job, considering the brief time the court had in which to make up its mind.
