Two Men Accused.

MANCHESTER, KY., April 19 – Warrants for Tom and Oakey Baker have been issued by County Judge J. M. Little in connection with the slaying of Police Judge C. P. Stivers. Judge Little said he forwarded one of the warrants to the sheriff of Jackson county, and the other to the sheriff of Madison county for service.

Eleven guards were on duty at Clay county jail today protecting two men already arrested in the case, Frank McDaniels, 24, of Burning Springs, charged with murder, and John M. Quinn, 50, Manchester attorney, charged with conspiracy.

Sheriff G. L. Langdon added his word to the request made today at Frankfort for national guard troops when he informed authorities at the capital the situation here is “critical.”

The situation which has arisen since the slaying of Judge Stivers is reported to date back to the Baker-Howard-White-Philpot feud of thirty years ago.
